2010 PRICE LIST   (ALL PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO 17.5% VAT)

EMBRYO TRANSFER FEES (All semen types)

The fixed fee per donor includes recipient synchronisation, non surgical flushing, transfer of the embryo into a recipient and the 14, 25 & 42 day scans for up to 3 unproductive cycles (one which doesn't produce a 60 day pregnancy). Donor insemination, carried out at BET Ltd, is also included in this fixed fee if the semen is fresh or chilled but charged as an extra in each cycle if the semen is frozen. The fixed fee doesn't include semen related costs, uterine lavages or further pregnancy scans which will be carried out as necessary & will be charged for separately. Since successful embryo transfer requires accurate detection of ovulation, in order to enable the fixed fee system, insemination occurring away from BET Ltd must be carried out by a veterinary surgeon competent in the type of insemination being performed and they must complete and return a form provided by us after each examination of your mare.

Artificial insemination (frozen semen only – per cycle)                                                                              £280.00

 * an unproductive cycle is one which doesn’t produce a 60 day pregnancy

RECIPIENT MARES Recipient hire will be waived if you provide another recipient which Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd can use with another donor and achieves a 60 day pregnancy during the current breeding season, otherwise full payment is required. Your recipient will usually only start being used for other donor mares once your donor mare has left the programme. If Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd requires recipients and you provide a suitable recipient within 2 weeks of the start of the following season the recipient fee (for the previous season) will be refunded when the recipient is considered suitable.

NB..DNA Typing: All donor mares require their DNA to be recorded on a recognised database. Unless proof can be provided for this, a hair or blood sample will be taken from the donor mare at the time of the first transfer, stored and sent to be analysed when her first embryo pregnancy is confirmed at 60 days. The sample will be sent to The Animal Health Trust and the DNA will be stored in their database. The owner will be responsible for the costs relating to this which are usually about £60.00. Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd recommend that all foals are DNA Typed to confirm parentage before 6 months of age. Disputes over parentage must be brought forward before the foal has reached 6 months of age.

Tests Required All horses admitted to Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd need to be certified CEM, EVA and EIA free and if they are resident mares, undergo an Animal Health Trust strangles blood test. All health test samples must be taken within 28 days of the mare's arrival, certificates of these tests must be received by BET prior to the horses arrival on site.

Payment: A non-refundable deposit of £235.00 (£200.00 + VAT) must be paid at the time of booking. Clients must pay their embryo transfer fees on receipt of an invoice produced on a calendar month basis. All fees must be paid prior to the horses departure. Please note that horses will not be allowed to leave Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd until all outstanding fees are paid in full. Pregnant recipient mares are not allowed to leave Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd until they are 60 days pregnant. We scan for pregnancy at 60 days but clients are encouraged to get an independent scan if they wish. If this is the case the client has 7 days from the 60 day date to submit a veterinary certificate stating the pregnancy status of the recipient and the embryo transfer fee will be refunded if the mare is not pregnant.

Keep Charges: Donor mares can either reside at the centre or travel for each procedure: examination, insemination and then flushing eight days later. Time of insemination is crucial and may require more than one visit to inseminate your mare at the right time. We find that better results are achieved if insemination is carried out at our centre but it is possible for your own vet to inseminate your mare in close association with our centre. Recipient mares provided by the client will be charged for keep from the day they arrive. Recipients used from our centre will be charged keep from day 1 of pregnancy only if she is pregnant at 60 days. Any mares that are uncollected with amounts still outstanding on the account by 30th November 2010 will incur increased keep charges. Beyond 30th November appropriate keep will be charged as well as a supplement of £7.50 per day per horse.

Embryo Transfer Fees: We have a good success rate in our centre so we charge on a 'per pregnancy' basis rather than on a 'per procedure' basis to minimise the risk of many additional costs to the client should there be a large number of unproductive flushings. We charge a non-refundable fixed fee per donor which covers up to three unproductive cycles (i.e. no 60 day pregnancy achieved) provided insemination recommendations are adhered to.  This fee can be carried over to the following year but is not transferable between mares. A new fixed fee is required for the 4th unproductive cycle.  There are pros and cons of both chilled and frozen semen inseminations and these may differ for each stallion. Please explore all the options thoroughly before you start and feel free to ask us any questions you have.

Recipient Mares: Clients can supply their own as long as they are suitable. In this case the recipient mare must reside at the centre before the donor is inseminated to allow for correct synchronisation and assessment of suitability. Pregnant mares must reside at the centre until they are 60 days pregnant. In the event a client's recipient is unsuitable, a flushed embryo will be placed into one of our recipients and the hire price will apply, unless otherwise specified before insemination.

Rented recipient mares must be returned in a healthy condition otherwise there will be an extra charge of £850. A healthy recipient includes a good body condition and evidence of regular worming and foot trimming as a minimum. If a rented recipient mare dies during the rental period, the passport must be returned to Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd along with a veterinary certificate confirming date, time and cause of death (if known). A full post mortem is not required. In the event of death of a rented recipient the hirer is responsible for the rental fee plus an £850 surcharge. Any veterinary costs incurred for the recipient mare during the rental period are the responsibility of the hirer. Please contact BET Ltd immediately if there are any problems with BET Ltd recipient mares. Some mares are owned by 3rd parties and BET Ltd likes to ensure full responsibility is taken for the health and welfare of all BET Ltd recipient mares at all times and that any 3rd parties are kept updated with their mare’s progress.

Semen Costs: Clients should be aware that there are often peripheral charges associated with semen such as semen collection, couriers and containers used in its transport. All semen costs are the responsibility of the mare owner so it is advisable to check what is included in the stallion fee. Most stallions are billed out on a per pregnancy basis regardless of how many inseminations and transfers are required. Please check this with the stallion owners/agents beforehand. Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd is not responsible for semen supplied that is incorrectly labelled, arrives with the incorrect paperwork; fails to arrive on time and is in an unsuitable condition on arrival. Frozen semen stored at Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd on behalf of stallion and mare owners is done so at their own risk and they are responsible for insurance of the semen.

Insurance: Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd accepts no responsibility for insuring mares and foals: It is the owner’s responsibility to provide their own insurance cover.  All successful 60 day pregnancies must be paid for. With all pregnancies there is a small risk that a live foal will not result. There is also the possibility that the rented recipient may die during the rental period or be damaged to the extent that she is no longer usable as a broodmare. It is the client’s responsibility to insure against these risks as all Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd fees must be paid in full. Clients using their own recipient mares may wish to insure the mare and the embryo pregnancy.

Stallions: Stallions may reside at Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd provided they have current CEM, EVA and EIA certification and a satisfactory strangles blood test result. If required Beaufort Embryo Transfer Ltd can arrange stallion nominations for resident stallions and we will take a percentage of the stud fee, using the terms and conditions laid out on the relevant booking form.
